Award winning composer and music producer, Luis Guerra, spent his early years playing drums and piano before picking up the double bass at an early age. He studied music and composition and soon began performing professionally at the age of 15. He has performed on stage or recorded in the studio with musical luminaries including Peter Buck (REM), Patty Griffin, Marc Ribot, Money Mark, Jimmy Messer, Alejandro Escovedo, Meiko, Barrett Martin, Rahim Alhaj, Kevin Hays, Coleman Barks, Bobby Shew, Tosca Tango Orchestra, and Orchestra La Tribu. These days, he spends most of his time composing music for film, TV, podcasts, and online media.
Most recently, his music has been featured in Seasons 1-3 of Malcolm Gladwell's award winning and chart topping podcast, "Revisionist History." He also has published a series of compositions for Freakonomics Radio with Stephen Dubner. And, he finished the score to the upcoming Jules Feiffer screenplay, Bernard and Huey directed by Dan Mirvish. Update - Luis's score for Bernard and Huey is now eligible for an Academy Award nomination. In 2010, he moved to Los Angeles to compose music for picture. In the last eight years, he has accomplished exactly that and more... He composed music for the Netflix documentary "Art of Conflict". He also composed music for the TV documentary, "Superthief," and has had music placed in "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" with Tina Fey. He has worked on TV shows, Doc McStuffins and Henry Hugglemonster in addition to recently composing music for short films, "The Bunker Buster" which stars Kyle Bornheimer from CBS' "Fallen Angel."His music has been featured on commercials for Honda, Samsung, and Mentos.
